Logan County EMS, in partnership with Aftan Tso from the K-State Extension Golden Prairie District in Oakley, recently hosted a Safe Sitter® course for local youth, providing valuable skills that can help them stay safe and confidently care for younger children.

Seven girls participated in the course, spending the day learning important topics such as babysitting safety, basic childcare skills, first aid, emergency response, and how to handle challenging situations while caring for children. Participants also learned about personal safety, business skills for babysitters, and how to recognize and respond to medical emergencies until help arrives.

The Safe Sitter program is designed to prepare young teens to be safe when they are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting for families in the community. Through hands-on activities, role-playing scenarios, and interactive discussions, students gained practical knowledge that will serve them well both now and in the future.

Logan County EMS and the K-State Research and Extension Office are proud of these seven young ladies for their commitment to learning lifesaving skills and becoming responsible caregivers. Their willingness to invest time in learning how to care for others helps make our community safer and stronger.

We would like to thank the participants and their families for supporting this opportunity. We also appreciate the partnership between Logan County EMS and K-State Research and Extension that made this course possible.

Congratulations to all seven graduates on successfully completing the Safe Sitter course!
